A delightful little map of Iceland that is based on the map of Joris Carolus. M. Hekla is shown erupting, with towns and other topographical features depicted. Pierre Duval was Nicolas Sanson's nephew and pupil. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps including a fine miniature world geography with many of the maps based on Sanson. This is one of the few maps in the atlas that is not based on his uncle's work, and did not appear until the second edition of Duval's Geographie Universelle.
