Lovely small map of central and western Mexico. Mexico City is located on the banks of a large, hourglass-shaped lake, and numerous gold and silver mines are scattered across the map. A note appears under a cluster of mountains in the unengraved northern part of the map: His montibus maxima argenti copia effoditur (roughly: "In these mountains, the largest sum of silver was excavated"). Adorned by a strapwork title cartouche.

References: Van der Krogt (Vol. III) #9510:353:31.

Condition: A

A crisp impression with just a few small spots within the map image.

Estimate: $130 - $170
