Very graphic map from a Dutch Bible depicting the land of Canaan with north oriented to right. The map is based on Nicolas Visscher's map of 1657, but the decorative elements are completely original. The large decorative title cartouche features allegorical figures at the bottom representing strife and death, and at top the promise of everlasting life. Two insets flanking the title depict the Christ's Birth and Crucifixion. At top, putti hold banners with the key to the map and a scale of mile, and tiny ships sail in the sea. Dutch text on verso.

Issued folding, now pressed with a small paper flaw at far right, an insignificant spot in title cartouche, and several professionally repaired fold separations confined to blank margins.
