The Java Sea is the focus of this large striking chart. Several Indonesian islands are shown, including parts of Java in the south, Sumatra in the west, and Borneo in the northeastern corner of the sheet. There is little information inland, but notable locations and topographical features are detailed along the coasts. Numerous soundings, rocks, shoals, and anchorages appear in the water. Two prominent compass roses topped with fleurs-de-lis radiate rhumb lines and orient the north to the right. Four small views around the title illustrate how various mountains and hills appear from a vantage in the water. Engraved by J. Stephenson.
