This large chart covers the entire island of Newfoundland along with a portion of the coast of Labrador bordering the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There is fine detail along the coast including soundings, shoals and many place names, which has been highlighted in yellow outline color. With the exception of the river system, there is no inland detail with a note explaining "The Eastern Coast of Newfoundland from Cape Bonavista to White Cape has not been Surveyed and is therefore described by an outline only." A note below the title shows the population at just over 50,000, with only 19,000 living there during the winter.
