This map of the United States shows evolving configurations in the western territories. Oregon stretches from the Pacific to the Rockies including present-day Washington, New Mexico extends to include southern Colorado, and a large Nebraska Territory occupies the region from the Rockies east to the Missouri River. There is good detail of the river system and topography with numerous Indian tribes named. Engraved by D. Heyse.
