A beautiful example of the title page from the 1696 enlarged edition of Munting's Nauwkeurige Beschryving Der Aard-Gewassen, a superbly illustrated botanical book of this period. The exquisite plate was drawn by J. Goeree (1670-1731) and published in Leiden by Pieter van der Aa and Francois Halma. The busy scene depicts an offering of fruit and plants to the gods with the assistance of cherubs. Below the ornately framed title are two cherubs with an open copy of the book. Surrounded by a very detailed and finely engraved border filled with fruits and vegetables, along with four classical figures.
