This is a very early view of the city of Cusco which is based on an earlier one by Braun & Hogenberg. The view features the surrounding countryside as well as the walled city. The figures of knights, peasants and nobility are seen both within and outside of the city. The title is shown in a banner cartouche, with a second title in German (Effigies Illustris Civitatis Cusco…) above the view. German text on verso with a smaller view (6.25" x 6.3") of Temistitan, now called Mexico City.
