These three maps were made shortly after the establishment of Yosemite as a protected park in 1890. During this period, the Army's Fifth Cavalry Regiment controlled the park, and these were made for their use. The maps are highly detailed and show the topography of the region. The second and third maps have color overprinting depicting roads, trails, cattle ranges, and boundaries that show the "principal haunts of trespassing sheep."
