This lot features two examples of each map with identical titles but slightly different formats as identified below. From the American State Papers.
A. [Lot of 2] Plan of the Settlement at Green Bay from the Report of J Lee Esqre. Agent &c. Not Founded on Actual Survey (18.1 x 14.5" and 13.4 x 12.6"). One of the earliest plans of the Green Bay area featuring 66 named landowners on the Fox River. Inset "View of the Settlement of the Kakalin or Great Rapids on the Fox River" shows additional landowners. The first example has the familiar American State Papers plate number at top, while the second, smaller example has no plate number and is lithographed by A. Hoen & Co.
B. [Lot of 2] Plan of the Settlement at Prairie des Chiens from the Report of J. Lee Esqre. Agent &c. Not Taken from Actual Survey (14.2 x 19.5" each). Shows names of property owners on the east bank of the Mississippi River in Crawford County. Over 80 plots are shown with the owners name and, in some cases, length of possession and how land was granted. The first example has the familiar American State Papers plate number at top and is lithographed by Bowen & Co., while the second example has no plate number and is lithographed by A. Hoen & Co.
