A bold strapwork border surrounds this charming miniature map of the heavens with the major constellations delineated. This tiny map is based on the celestial map from Ortelius' Epitome, which was derived from a chart by Plancius. The chart was published in a French edition of Caert-Thresoor, published by Cornelis Claesz, which included plates engraved by Jodocus Hondius and Pieter van den Keere. French text on verso, published between 1600-02.
