This lot includes two yachting scenes based on watercolor paintings by Frederic Schiller Cozzens, an American artist known primarily for his maritime scenes. The first is a lithograph depicting the yachts Volunteer, an American vessel, and Thistle, a British vessel, after the start of the 1887 International Yacht Race. This lithograph was created by Armstrong & Co. in Boston and published by C. L. Jones & Co.
The second is an untitled chromolithograph showing four of the yachts from the New York Yacht Club from the early 1850s, including Maria, America, Una, and Ray. The chromolithograph was also created by Armstrong & Co. and published by Charles Scribner's Sons in New York.
