This is the first reference book to focus solely on maps of India. Gole, who has also authored a reference on maps of India made without European influence, writes about European maps of India here. It includes seven chapters tracking the history of India in European maps and a list of 101 maps of India printed prior to 1800. There are 32 plates, eight of which are in color.
