This is the September 17th, 1881 issue of Mountain Mail. On the back cover is an untitled map of Colorado (14.2 x 10.2") by Rand McNally featuring the city of Salida at center depicted with a large star. Below the map is a long article urging readers to vote for Salida to become the state capital over other, more established cities including Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo. Denver won the vote later that year. Complete four-page issue.
