This handsome map focuses on the eastern areas of the Roman Empire in the present-day Balkans and Turkey. Provinces, towns and cities, rivers, and some topographical detail are shown. Nearly all of the Black Sea appears. Regions outside of Roman control are left largely unengraved.

A crisp impression with original color on heavy paper. There is light soiling and a few spots, as well as some small chips and short edge tears confined to the blank margins.
