This novel reference is an elaborate, heavily illustrated timeline of the history of the world from Genesis to the development of the computer, measuring approximately 162 x 16.5". It includes maps of various empires and a helpful key. Hardbound, elephant folio. Condition: There is some minor wear and soiling along the edges of the foldout chart. B. The Shape of the World, by Simon Berthon & Andrew Robinson, published 1991 (10.0 x 11.3"). This is the British edition of this book, a companion to the television mini-series of the same title focused on the history of map-making and how humanity came to know the contours of the earth. It was published by George Philip Ltd. in association with IBM, with an introduction that notes the computer company's commitment to the environment. 192 pages, with a plethora of images, many in color, spanning from early maps to photographs taken from space. Hardbound with a dust jacket protected by a Mylar sleeve. Condition: Contents fine with minor wear to covers. (A)
