This handsome map of the Iberian Peninsula is based on the work of Hessel Gerard and is filled with detail of towns, political divisions, rivers and topography. The map extends to show the Balearic Islands and a portion of the northern coast of Africa. The map is embellished with a strapwork cartouche, a compass rose, sailing ships, and the royal coat of arms of King Philip II. Dutch text on verso, published between 1645-58.

Condition: B+
Excellent impression and color on a clean, bright sheet with wide margins. There are professional repairs to a centerfold separation that enters 1.25" into map at bottom, a large chip confined to blank margin at bottom right, and a tear that enters 3" into map at top with a small portion of image replaced in facsimile.
