Handsome map of Asia with the imprint of engraver Jacob Keyser and date at lower right. The most distinguishing feature is the huge Kamchatka Peninsula with some features derived from Witsen's account of the 'frozen cape.' Japan is depicted on the Kaempfer/Scheuchzer type. Australia's northern coastline is shown as well as the successive Dutch discoveries in Carpentarie. The Arabian Peninsula and much of the eastern coast of Africa is included, as well as the islands in the Indian Ocean.

Lovely original color on a clean, bright sheet of watermarked paper with wide margins. There are a couple of minute worm holes, only visible when held to light, and soiling along the top edge of the sheet. The faint shadow along the centerfold is caused by our scanner, and does not appear on the map itself.
