This is the full set of this comprehensive reference listing the atlases held by the Library of Congress. The first four volumes were compiled by Philip Lee Phillips between 1909 and 1920. They appear here in the unabridged reprint of 1971, collected in two books (6.0 x 9.1"). The project was continued by Clara LeGear from 1958 to 1992. These remaining volumes are all original editions (7.1 x 10.1"). The entire set lists over 18,000 atlases and contains many full collations, lists of maps, copious annotations, and indexes of authors, cartographers, engravers, and geographic subjects. This incredible endeavor is one of the most important reference works on the atlases and is an important addition for any cartographic reference library. Volume 5 of this lot is a deaccessioned copy from the Upsala College library.
