A. Early Maps of North America, by Robert M. Lunny, published 1961, black & white (8.4 x 9.5"). This was published simultaneously with the opening of the exhibition of 60 maps in the Museum of the New Jersey Historical Society. Robert Lunny, the former director of the New Jersey Historical Society, died in 2008 after a long illness. He headed the Society from 1956 until his retirement in 1977. 48 pp. with 26 black & white illustrations of historic maps. Bound in beige paper pictorial covers. Condition: Contents tight. Covers are near fine with light wear along the spine. (A)

B. America Explored - A Cartographical History of the Exploration of North America, by Adrian Johnson, published 1974, printed color (10.3 x 13.9"). This richly illustrated history covers the discovery and exploration of North America from the voyages of the Vikings to the expeditions to the West. Folio, 254 pp. with more than 350 illustrations, both maps and engravings, several in color. Hardbound in simulated brown leather with gilt title on front cover and spine, with dust jacket. Condition: Contents clean and tight. There is light cracking along the hinge, and the dust jacket has light wear and few small chips and tears. (B+)

C. Maps of North America, by Ashley and Miles Baynton-Williams, published 2008, printed color (14.3 x 17.3"). This impressive overview of maps of North America features over 90 maps, starting with Martin Waldseemuller's Tabula Terre Nove (1513), the first atlas map devoted to America, and running up to Henry W. Faust's plan of San Francisco (1892). Each entry is accompanied by descriptive text and a large color illustration. 192 pp., hardbound with pictorial covers and dust jacket. Condition: Contents and covers fine with very minor wear and soiling to the dust jacket. (A)
