This is the second edition of Hitchcock important geological map of the United States. In addition to the geology, the large and colorful map depicts railroads, roads, canals, army arsenals and forts. A table at lower left provides an explanatory key to the colors used to indicate the nine distinct geological types. Lithographed by Julius Bien.

Condition: A

Issued folding with bold coloring. There is an unobtrusive horizontal misfold near the center of the map with a few tiny splits at fold intersections that have been closed on verso with archival tape.
