This is the second edition of Hitchcock important geological map of the United States. In addition to the geology, the large and colorful map depicts railroads, roads, canals, army arsenals and forts. A table at lower left provides an explanatory key to the colors used to indicate the nine distinct geological types. Lithographed by Julius Bien.
