This steel engraved map of the southern United States and Mexico was published in Tegg's 22-volume London Encyclopaedia, or Universal Dictionary of Science, Art, Literature and Practical Mechanics: comprising a Popular View of the Present State of Knowledge. It covers the region from San Francisco east to St. Louis and south to Lake Nicaragua. The map emphasizes topography and the river systems, including the fictitious Buenaventura and S. Felipe that cross the Great Basin into the Pacific. Mexico is delineated by state and shows good detail, including Texas within San Luis Potosi.

A nice impression on a clean sheet with a hint of offsetting.
