A stunning map of the Persian empire based on Ortelius' map of the same title. The map is centered on Persia, and it also shows present-day Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Indus River. It is filled with scores of place names, details of the Persian Gulf, and charming pictorial detail of topography and cities. The Caspian Sea is given a horizontal oval shape. A pair of strapwork cartouches embellish the map. French text on verso.

Attractive color on watermarked paper with very light toning, a few tiny abrasions in the Caspian Sea, marginal soiling, and professional repairs to a tiny tear near the center of the map and a small worm track along the centerfold towards the bottom.
