These two double-page maps are absolutely filled with details, including proposed railroad routes, trails, forts, etc. The map of Missouri and Kansas is adorned with three engraved vignettes: Fire on the Prairie; Spearing Fish; and Santa Fe from the Great Missouri Trail, which shows a joyous wagon train first sighting the town. In Kansas county development is restricted to the eastern portion. The map of Iowa and Nebraska only shows the far eastern portion of Nebraska. Decorative borders.
