This pair of small but detailed maps depicts the course of the Rhine through Germany. The first tracks the river from North-Rhine-Westphalia down to southwest Germany. The second focuses on the Upper Rhine region. Political divisions, town and cities (including Cologne, Dusseldorf, Bonn, Frankfurt, and more), and topographical detail are shown. Each map features a decorative title cartouche, the first with coats of arms and two gentlemen, the second with a river god and other allegorical figures. Both are engraved by Tobias Conrad Lotter.
