The European wars of the eighteenth century brought heightened interest in detailed mapping of the strategic harbors and fortifications in the Mediterranean. This map of Gibraltar provides a detailed view of the peninsula and fortification with an extensive key to important locations. It features two approaches from the east and west at top and an extensive description at bottom. The British eventually gained control of Gibraltar during the War of the Spanish Succession. Apparently separately issued, dissected and backed with old linen.
