This handsome bird's-eye plan of Madrid shows the city street pattern, highlighting the Royal Palace and the Buen Retiro Park. At top right is a depiction of the Royal Chapel of St. Anthony of La Florida, which is best known for its frescoes by Goya. An unusual vertical distance scale is depicted on a fountain surrounded by three Spaniards in elaborate costumes. At bottom are four vignettes of a prospect view of the Royal Palace, a bullfight in the Plaza Mayor, the "Royal Pleasure Gardens" of Buen Retiro, and the Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
