Very uncommon double-hemisphere world map featuring the discoveries and routes of Cook's three voyages. A crudely shaped Australia (Nuova Olanda) still incorporates Tasmania but the east coastline is beginning to take shape. In the Pacific, Hawaii and both islands of New Zealand are prominently shown. In North America a distinct Northwest Passage is labeled B. di Beering. A recognizable Alaska (Algka) makes a very early appearance - this being one of the first maps to use the name. The map is surrounded in lush landscape scenes featuring the allegorical female representations of the four continents together with their animal escorts.
