These two detailed and uncommon maps were included in the May and February issues of Atkinson's Casket magazine. Each map is beautifully colored by county and boldly engraved to show towns, canals, railroads and wagon roads. Both were engraved by J. Yeager who also engraved many maps for Lavoisne in the same recognizable style. The Casket, published by S.C. Atkinson, was a small publication with only 1500 subscribers, making this map particularly uncommon. In 1840 George Rex Graham combined the Casket and Burton's Gentleman's Magazine into the Graham Magazine that became well-known for colorful engravings of women's fashions. Also included with the maps are 2 pages (Kentucky) and 8 pages (Ohio) of descriptive text from the magazine.
