This attractive, early, complete guidebook contains 38 small plates of the region including views of the Capitol, President's House, both chambers of Congress, Mount Vernon, Georgetown, and the preliminary design for the Washington Monument. Each plate has been enhanced with hand coloring, which is uncommon for this type of publication. The plates are interspersed within 188 pages of related text. Published by William Q. Force in Washington. Hardbound with brown, blind-stamped cloth boards. This is apparently a scarce issue with only one dealer record (1977) in the last 30 years.

The plates are very good to near fine with occasional minor soiling or light foxing mostly along the sheet edges. The binding is somewhat loose with the upper half of the spine backstrip missing. The hinges are starting and the edges are bumped.
