Handsome and very detailed map of Central Europe depicting the Holy Roman Empire. At the height of the empire it contained most of the territory of today's Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Slovenia, as well as eastern France, northern Italy and western Poland. The map is decorated with an allegorical cartouche featuring the angel of Fame, a soldier, and a lion holding a banner with the motto "Unione et observantia legum," which translates as "union and observance of laws." Engraved by Tobias Lotter.
