Charming miniature map of Japan based on Ortelius' seminal map from early Portuguese sources. Title is in block-style cartouche. The map was engraved by the brothers Ambrose and Ferdinand Arsenius who had been assistants to Frans Hogenburg and co-engravers of Ortelius' folio Theatrum. This series of maps was accompanied by text by Michel Coignet and was published by Jan B. Vrients. Latin text on verso.

A nice impression with attractive color. There is a damp stain at top right, confined to the blank margin, with a resulting chip that has been professionally repaired.
