This important British book by Thomas Keith discusses the use of globes in understanding the geography of the earth, geology, meterorology and the celestial motions of the planets and solar system. First published in 1805, this is the second edition. The book includes five folding plates depicting charts and diagrams of the heavens, as well as one showing the parts of a terrestrial globe. 360 pages, 5 copper plates. 16mo, contemporary tree calf with burgundy label and gilt titles on spine.

Four of the plates have moderate offsetting and foxing; one plate has light offsetting and foxing. Text is moderately foxed and there is a chip in the front free-endpaper. Back cover is detached and front hinge is starting. Covers are heavily worn and rubbed and spine is cracked.
