Set of five matching charts of Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. Size varies slightly. The maps are bound together in marbled paper boards with a handwritten title label ("Oceanie") on cover. Boards measure 9.3 x 14.3". The set includes:
A. Australien, dated 1865. Shows all of Australia in very fine detail and includes an inset plan of Sydney and Port Jackson. Condition: Light damp stains in the top corners of the map. (B+)
B. West-Australien [on sheet with] Neu-Seeland (New Zealand), dated 1865. Depicts a large map of western Australia and another of New Zealand with inset maps of Tasmania and a plan of the vicinity of Auckland. Condition: Moderate scattered foxing. (B)
C. Sud-Ost-Australien, dated 1861. Covers the states of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and the eastern portion of South Australia with remarkable detail including hundreds of towns and villages named. It extends west to Lake Eyre, south to Kangaroo Island and north to above Hazelwood. Condition: Moderate foxing and heavy damp stains at left. (C+)
D. West-Polynesien, dated 1858. Depicts the South Pacific Ocean from Papua New Guinea to Samoa with excellent detail of the islands. Inset maps depict Viti Levu in Fiji and Tongatapu in Tonga. Condition: Moderate scattered foxing and light offsetting. (B)
E. Ost-Polynesien, dated 1860. Extends from Hawaii to the western coast of Mexico, south to Cook Island and French Polynesia, and includes the Galapagos Islands. Inset maps depict the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii, a plan of Honolulu, Tahiti, and Floreana of the Galapagos Islands. Condition: Light scattered foxing with a few small damp stains along the edges of the sheet. (B+)
