This extraordinary facsimile atlas is a faithful copy of Ortelius's epochal work, the first modern atlas, originally published in 1570. It includes all 53 of the maps in the first edition in black and white, as well as the title page and a portrait of Ortelius first published in 1579. Introduction by R.A. Skelton. Part of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Series of Atlases in Facsimile First Series - Volume III. Hardbound in gray cloth with gilt insignia on the front cover and a dust jacket. 300 pp.

Contents very good with a hint of soiling on a few pages. There is minor shelf wear on the covers. The dust jacket is moderately worn with several short tears that have been reinforced on verso.
