A. The Miamian - Official Spokesman of the Miami Chamber of Commerce - Miami, Florida - The Land of Palms and Sunshine Vol. IV. No. 6, by the Miami Chamber of Commerce, published 1923, printed color (9.1 x 12.3"). This 32 page promotional magazine is the "Port of Miami - Special Edition" issued for November 1923. It includes a series of articles touting the region's growth and economic opportunities, especially as it relates to constructing a 25 foot deep channel into the Port of Miami, which would allow large commercial cargo ships to dock there. Features a double-page map showing the waterways in southern Florida and a map of most of the state on the back cover. Includes numerous in-text illustrations, advertisements, and a business listing of members of the chamber of commerce. Pictorial paper wrappers. Condition: The map is clean, bright, and near fine. Text has a hint of toning and a few minor chips along the top edge. Covers have minor soiling and several short edge tears. (B+)
B. Miami Beach - Miami Florida, published 1930, printed color (8.1 x 9.1"). This 27 page promotional brochure was intended for the tourist and includes an attractive, pictorial Map of Dade County (8 x 15") by Ziesler that touts both crops and the variety of fish species in the region. Also includes maps on the inside front and back covers showing the transportation network and a street map of the city of Miami. Numerous illustrations throughout with pictorial paper covers. Condition: Near fine with the double-page map (with text on verso) loose. (A)
C. A Friendly Guide to the Exotic and Ununsual Charms of the Greater Miami Area, by Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, dated 1934, black & white (6.0 x 8.9"). A 28 page promotional pamphlet that includes numerous in-text illustrations and features a highly detailed Map of City of Miami (17 x 22"), compliments of The Miami Herald. The verso of the map contains a highway map of the state. Pictorial paper wrappers. Condition: The folding map has some light toning at top left and a short edge tear that impacts only the descriptive text. Text and other illustrations are very good. (B+)
D. Miami, Florida "The Magic City", by Charles Shaw, circa 1920, printed color (8.1 x 5.2"). This colorful piece intended for the tourist includes 41 full color, single-page illustrations of early Miami landmarks including the Royal Palm Hotel, Miami Beach Casino, Flamingo Hotel, Deering Villa, and a bird's-eye view of Miami to name a few. Includes one page of introductory text. Stiff paper wrappers with illustration on front wrapper. Condition: Illustrations are clean, bright, and near fine. Wrappers are moderately stained and soiled.
