This handsome map is based upon Delisle's earlier edition and focuses on the Byzantine Empire as it was during the reign of Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos. It covers present-day Balkans and Turkey and extends to include portions of Italy, Ukraine, and Russia. Provinces, towns and cities, rivers, and some topographical detail are shown. The Black Sea prominently appears.
