This map illustrates the expansive Ottoman Empire at the end of the eighteenth century, extending from Spain to Abissinia (Ethiopia) to Western India. Dozens of countries are outlined and named and mountains are shown in profile and shading. Both the Black and Caspian Seas are included, with a road network shown east of the Caspian Sea. This is the third state, with "Engraved for Bankes's New System of Universal Geography
Published by Royal Authority" removed from the top margin and 12 G added at bottom right.

A nice impression on paper with a fleur-de-lis and "1794" watermarks. There is some extraneous creasing that has been pressed flat, light soiling, and several tiny tears and one small hole along the centerfold that have been archivally repaired.
