This is a really beautifully engraved map of the island. The interior is largely devoid of detail and filled with depictions of mountains and forests. There are numerous place names along the coastlines. Title in picture frame style block and a compass rose completes the simple but elegant composition. This map was based on Joannes van Braam's map of the island by Francois Valentijn. This example appeared in Jean-Albert de Mandelslo's Voyages Celebres & Remarquables, Faits de Perse aux Indes Orientales, which was published by Michel Charles le Cene in Amsterdam.
