This sea chart shows a portion of the African coastline from Accra to Lagos and just past Benin City to the Niger Delta, inset at the bottom with two coastal profiles. This very decorative map has an attractive, figurative cartouche with natives and a sleeping European, while at the bottom of the map a group of mermen attack a sea monster with tridents and swords as a group of putti atop the scale of miles cartouche look on. The map is further adorned with a compass rose and a sailing ship.
