This school atlas contains 9 single-page maps and 2 double-page maps of the United States and the world dated 1828-1830. In the United States map, Missouri encompasses the region of Montana, Wyoming, Kansas, Iowa and the Dakotas and extends to Arkansas and North West Territories. Arkansas Territory extends westward to Texas, which is a part of Mexico. Oregon Territory extends well north into present-day British Columbia. Maps included are: world in hemispheres, world with thematic chart of religions, North America, United States, Eastern States, Middle States and Part of the Southern States, Ohio & Indiana, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Also includes an interesting chart at the back showing the comparative land size, population and forms of government for various countries with four engraved vignettes including Morocco ("Half Civilized"), Constantinople ("Civilized") and New York ("Enlightened Nation"). The single-page maps are generally very good with occasional light toning or faint offsetting. The double-page maps of the United States and world have light toning and soiling, occasional faint offsetting, and 2" fold separations at bottom. Maps have separated from the paper wrappers which are soiled and stained.
