This rare map, in both German in French, depicts Cartagena and the surrounding bay. The fortified city of Cartagena is shown in city plan view, and there is good detail of the surrounding land, including dwellings, roads, forts, and batteries. Below the title is a brief description of the city. A fleet of ships appear anchored just outside the bay along with a notation in both French and German explaining that the entrance to the bay is so narrow and shallow that ships can only pass with the assistance of anchors and ropes. A small compass rose orients north to the top right corner.
