This handsome map of Europe extends to Iceland and the western coast of Greenland, and to the northern coast of Africa. Finely engraved details include cities and topography. The title cartouche is flanked by figures representing the bounties of Europe. A splendid cartouche to the right dedicates the map to Simon van Hoorn, a burgomeister of Amsterdam.

A dark impression on a sheet with original hand color. The centerfold and the margins have been reinforced on the verso with paper and tissue repairs, with one tissue repair on the face of the lower margin. The map has light scattered foxing, some transferred color at bottom left, and a couple of tiny wormholes. Still a striking map that would frame well.
