This lovely bird's-eye view of Amsterdam presents the city during a time of prosperity, reflected in the many ships shown at the city's docks. Two numbered keys locate strategic points within the city's fortifications, including bastions, docks, and important buildings. Nicolas de Fer held the title of Geographer at Louis XIV's court. He was one of the most prolific publishers of plans of European cities in the late seventeenth century. Engraved by Herman van Loon.

A nice impression with marginal soiling and a touch of toning along the sheet's edges.
