A. Les Colonies des Europeens en Amerique, by P. Bourgoin, circa 1730 (2.8 x 5.3"). A copper engraved miniature map of the Americas on Mercator's projection. California is shown correctly as a peninsula. There is little detail with no place names. The British colonies are confined to the eastern seaboard. Condition: Light toning.
B. L'Amerique pour la Concorde de la Geographie des Differents Ages, by Jean Lattre, circa 1765 (7.9 x 5.5"). This attractive and uncommon small map of the Americas delineates political divisions. While there is very little detail, there is a very nice presentation of the huge Mer de l'Ouest and the Archipel S. Lazare, which appears at the entrance to a possible Northwest Passage. A portion of the New Zealand's coastline is shown along with many islands in the South Pacific. Ref: McGuirk #125. Condition: Issued folding with faint offsetting.
