This large map of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean is based on the cartography of D'Anville. The region is dominated by Spain with possessions including Florida and the formerly French Louisiana. Names "Tecas" with a note near Cenis that "Here Mr. de la Salle was murdered in 1687." European colonial possessions in the region are identified with a color key below the title cartouche listing the British, French, Spanish, Dutch, Danish and the Swedish. The large cartouche is draped in a garland. Joined on two sheets.
