This lot includes 54 steel engraved English county maps, a title page, and numerous pages of descriptive text from Pigot & Cos. British Atlas, Comprising the Counties of England, (Upon Which Are Laid Down All Railways Completed and In Progress)... Each map features a key identifying mail roads, canals, railways, rivers, and more as well as a reference to the wards or hundreds of the county. All of the maps are decorated with a vignette of a notable church or cathedral in the county. Maps are accompanied by a "topographical account" of the county on separate sheets of text. Covers are detached but included. The lot collects the following maps (with several duplicates, as indicated by the "(x2)" next to their title):

Maps are in very good to near fine condition with minor offsetting, marginal toning, and/or some light spots of foxing. The separated covers area moderately worn and stained with remnants of masking tape along the joint and spine label.
