This is Ortelius' second map of the historic region of Belgium and the Netherlands. The ancient place names are based on classical sources, most notably Caesar. The map is richly engraved with forests, rivers and cities and adorned with four bold cartouches and a unique compass rose. From the 1603 Latin edition with Latin text on verso.
References: Van den Broecke #198.
Condition: B
A nice impression on paper with the horn coat of arms commonly found on Ortelius' maps. There is light toning that is a bit more prominent along the centerfold, a small stain caused by a paper flaw near the center of the image, and light damp stains along the edges of the sheet.
