This unusual item includes very decorative maps of Italy and Tuscany printed on a single sheet. The maps show the locations noted in Dante's works and from his travels in exile. Following the footsteps of Dante was apparently a popular tourist activity in the 19th century. The map was created by Mary Hensman, a British artist, and includes a 51 page brochure explaining the map. Folds into 12mo brown cloth covers.

The map, issued folding, was originally backed with linen that has since separated from verso. The map itself was issued on thick paper with light toning, minor soiling, and a few tiny splits at fold intersections. Covers are moderately soiled.
