A charming small map of the island of Borneo copied from Réne Augustin Constantin De Renneville's map that appeared in his Recueil des Voyages, first published in 1702. Despite publishing his work more than 100 years later, Renneville based his map on De Bry's map of the island, with no new geographical information added. A small compass rose orients north to the left. The interior of the island is filled with pictorial cartography of mountains, forests, rivers, and villages. This example is a smaller version of Renneville's map. A very rare issue as we were not able to find any other examples of this variant.
